11th Feb Saturday

No work today.
I went to the beach today.
Went for a explore/drive.
I went to:

Middle Tarwin
Tarwin Tower
Pound Creek
Venus Bay
Inverloch
Wonthaggi
Cape Paterson

Man! The roads between Fish Creek and Tarwin Lower were shocking, some great pot holes! Actually all the roads today were! Australia for you.
Middle Tarwin is a farming settlement. Tarwin Tower is a settlement built on the banks of the Tarwin. Original aye? :-) It's obviously a fishing village.
I didnt like Tarwin Lower much, but it was quite cool. To see a little old lady fishing off the jetty. Next off to Venus beach, when I got there. A group of young guys about my age were training on the beach, looked like team building. Found out later it was the local football club. Or AFL if your not from Victoria. :-)
Had a quick chat with the lifesaver, before he went for a paddleboard.

I rained away, so jumped in the car next stop. Inverloch.
While there had a cool chat with a a few guards , they were getting ready for IRB race training. Thought its pretty cool, the clubs here have plenty of teams per club that race IRB's.
Then got shown around their brand new $1.5 million, club rooms. Wow it's so big. Great new clubrooms it's attracting alot of new members. Including a family that transferred from another local club, after talking to Kathy who was manning the canteen. She told me about the clubs construction development, membership issues and the clubs past. Wasn't a great past, and some great fund raising, government grants etc. Made it possible. After my next stop I noticed a bit of jealousy in their neighboring club.
Next stop: Wonthaggi SLC in Cape Paterson
While thier I found a small run down patrol building, but full of very committed members who were full of stories, young and old. Malcolm was pretty cool to talk to, it seemed like he deserved a bit more respect than he got. Prob because of the way he patrols though.
Remind me, ive gotta email Malcolm, some pictures of Tairua surf club.
I enjoyed my time at Wonthaggi SLC.
Next was off to Cape Paterson SLC. I quite like Cape Paterson took plenty of cool photos I liked. Dam I wish I brought the USB cable.
Anyway I had a great day, even though I had to change the tyre as I got a puncture outside Wonthaggi SLC gravel driveway, bugger.

By this time I thought it was time to go home, changed the tyre hit the road again.

Helped Ben hot up some wires around the dairy, and redo tape gates. Hot them up as well.

30th Jan Mon

30th Jan Monday

I didnt check spelling or grammar. Oh well, I'm tired want to recover

Wake up: 08:00

Breakfast:
x2 Toast, banana, yogurt.
Wasn't enough though, was lacking energy by lunch time. Lacking alot.

Farm work:
Started: 09:10
Started with being told to:
Washdown dairy, collect reels from hay and silage, and put out some waratah's where the reel's were.
Anyway so I went about scraping starting washdown, started by scraping everything 'crap' towards the gutter and drains. Algud so far. But after one blockage in the lower pit for the dairy yard. Which I cleared, I thought sweet the water's moving again. I'll wash some more down into the pit. Second time I wasnt so lucky!

Sometime between starting washdown, I had managed to put enough down the pipes to block the system. Between the pits and to poo pond.
So after many attempts to clear it myself I gave up and ask for Ben's help. Which as you would expect didn't go down so well.

From there we found that there was a blockage, between the emergency overflow and the other side of the lane way. But we were wrong :-( And after many attempts to free the debri, I given for lunch. And left the hose pushed down the pipe and running to hopefully further loosen debri.
Finish: 13:50

Lunch:
Had leftovers from Robyn's spicy chicken dinner. Was quite good reheated, still spicy. Also everything tastes good after hard work on a empty stomach. During lunch it was pissing down! Mega windy and raining! Not the wimpy shower's I have got use to here. It was alot like Taupo heavy rain :-)

Start farm work.
Start: 15:00
After lunch, I went to check on the progess and found the water level had dropped around the emergency relief. Then checked the water tank, :-( not good, I could see the bottom of the tank! So rushed off to start the firefighter and get some water into the tank!

Then made a little more progress with getting more hose down the pipe. But not enough to ublock it, by now we've got so much hose down the pipe it's gone under the lane way, through many joints and joins the the pipe and pushed heaps of dirt sand crap grass and beep* down the pipe. Just moving and concentrating the blockage. at a point where no water is actually going down the pipe. Which is just the same as all morning! Yawn! And by the this time the body is really packing a sad!

Then Brad turns up, to help. We again look to find the problem, sus out a plan of attack, after I filled him in on what's happened this morning. This is just after Ben has got the herd into the Dairy yard. And hads started to milk. Great!

So Brad and I have another go at this DAM! blockage. And get some more pipe in. Not much more maybe 2 or 3 metres at most. And hasn't made the slightest difference to the blockage. Only thing is a whole lot of crap has been forced back up the pipe and is spilling out the emergency relief and is making a mess!

After Brad had gone threw all his ideas, situation still hasnt changed.
And he leaves, so I helped Ben milk. We had some problem cows again today!
If only cows were nice! And they walked up on command, stand and waited to get milked and then walked out of the dairy into their paddock without delay. Arrh, that would be the dream! If anyone knows how to do that, to a herd with alot of beep beep beep BEEPS!!!!!!! "Give me a call, love to hear from you"

And then did some more drain blockage attempts, and started the firefighter again.

Finish: Time 19:00

I had a lovely day on the farm today! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTTT. Yes I'm crazy

Tea:
Stir fry chicken! Arrh :-) yum!
Good food, keeps the soul and heart ticking over very nicely!

I had a lie down before bed tonight, before I wrote this.
Goodnight!

28th Jan Sat

28th Jan Saturday

Breakfast:
x3 Weetbix. Becoming a usual now, when there's enough milk in the fridge. And I'm on a Dairy farm, who would think that?

Farm work, none.

Slept in this morning, then once Robyn and Ben were finsihed with the girls or the herd if you weren't educated. We headed off toward, Wilsons Promontory. But before we got to far, we stopped in Foster. to pick up some supplies. AKA food and drink for lunch :-)

Before we arrived we stopped to look at the map. As Robyn, driving, and Ben tried to figure out where they were going. I jumped out and had a look out towards, Bass Strait, Norman Island, Great Glennie Island, Dannerig Island, Citadel Island, and McHugh Island (-39.01533,146.298888). Once we had found 'the beach', we made our way down to the beach, after it taking a few moments to get a car park. (-39.021789,146.306405)
It was quite busy today, summer yawn! It's obvious here, Squeaky Beach, that you had to drive a long long way away from the city to enjoy somewhere by yourself.
After applying the trusty sunblock, I went for an explore.
(-39.023368,146.300644) Where I found rocky outcrop, around the corner was a small picturesque beautiful bay. With no one on it, prefect! But didn't get to carried away scaling cliffs alone down to the beach. Might save that adventure for when I've got some company, to enjoy it with.

Lunch:
Ham and coleslaw buns :-) classic! and a brownie slice which was massive :-) I quite like Foster cuisine.

Then went for a long swim in the surf. Prob about 2-3.5ft consistent. Max 4. Plenty people out enjoying themselves. Surfing, body surfing, playing around splashing the usual. And a few international worries too. Glad the surf wasn't any bigger, and the rips weren't pulling much. One indian family, gave me a bit of a worry. A young girl not much older than 7, body boarding feeling really safe because she between mum and the shore, who was swimming. But the water line was just below Mum's shoulders. And its pretty obvious she knows nothing about the sea. And swimming in surf, as they were in centre of the mouth of a rip. Which as tells me she hasn't had much swimming experience. I hope they don't cause too many headaches at Victorian patrolled beaches.

As we lift the beach, the day didn't end on a good note. Robyn and I had a good time at the beach swimming etc. But once we decided we would leave Ben had already had enough. Lame! I reckon it was because he hadn't brought his togs down to the beach. But he lift them in the car. Silly mistake, and because the carpark wasn't as close to the beach as they are in New Zealand. He didn't want to walk up to the car and get them. :-( So we drove home and it wasn't a happy trip home. But in respect it could have been worse.

Tea:
We had Mince & Taco's. Was yummy! After being so hot and bothered all day.

We watched Night at the Museum' its quite fun to watch. Good one for the kids.

26th Jan Thu

26th Jan Thursday

Slept in this morning, but had the mountain of dishes and laundry done by the time Ben and Robyn had finished milking.

Breakfast:
x3 Weetbix. Spagetti, ham & sliced chicken breast on toast! :-)
Man I had a great breakfast today on Australia Day!

Farm work, what farm work. It's a public holiday!

Robyn and I went for a drive today.
We drove to:
Port Franklinn
Toora
Barry Beach (and on the sign it wrote grenade and bomb. This port's barb-wired gated entrance with a perimeter patrol road, mhmm interesting).
Welshpool
Port Welshpool
Port Albert

Lunch:
At Port Albert Robyn and I made lunch at a local shop. 'The General Store' great name for a restaurant/cafe.
From the short time, we were there. I realised and recognised many things while there. Was cool to see a place like that, how it looked, how it was run.

Tea:
Lamb Roast tonight! Was delicious! Lots of everything, Meat Vege and Gravy!
All what a man could ask for :-) Girl's are you listening. A man's heart is found a little lower than our actual heart beat.
